Biohazard cleanupA town that knows Joachim Creek
De Soto hugs the banks of Joachim Creek, and flooding has become a regular part of life downtown. From 2015 to 2019 the city went through five flood events, two of them declared presidential disasters. Residents say storms that once brought 3 or 4 inches of rain now bring 7 to 10, and newer construction uphill sends more runoff down toward the creek.
The region's worst recent flood began April 28, 2017, when a federal disaster declaration covered 48 Missouri counties and more than 1,200 homes were destroyed or badly damaged. Severe storms are part of the picture too: the May 2003 tornado demolished De Soto's junior high school and caused at least $50 million in damage.

Questions people ask
Are you a restoration company?
No. This is a free referral line. Your call goes to an independent provider that serves the area, and that provider does the work.
Is creek flooding covered by homeowners insurance?
Usually not. Standard policies generally exclude rising floodwater, which needs a flood policy. Sump pump backup is often a separate add-on. A burst pipe is more often covered. Check your policy and photograph everything.
